In the early hours of what seemed like an ordinary morning, a 5-month-old puppy named Rocky became a hero the world will never forget.
As torrential rains lashed the remote village of Siyathi, most residents were fast asleep — unaware that disaster was moments away. But Rocky, sleeping on the ground floor of his home, sensed something was wrong. At around 3 AM, he began barking frantically — not out of fear, but with urgency.
“I was woken up by his strange barking, like he was trying to warn me,” said Lalit Kumar, Rocky’s owner. “When I got to him, I saw a large crack in the wall and water rushing in.”
Kumar acted immediately, waking his neighbors and urging them to evacuate. Thanks to Rocky’s early warning, 22 families — 67 people in total — managed to flee to safety.
Minutes later, a massive landslide roared through the village, flattening homes and burying everything in its path.

Rocky, sadly, was swept away by floodwaters during the chaos.
The entire village feared the worst — until the next day, when rescuers found him exhausted but alive, tangled in a bush nearly 3 kilometers away.
“He was shivering, muddy, but he wagged his tail when he saw us,” Kumar recalled with tears.
Though Rocky had only been with Kumar’s family for three months, his loyalty and instinct saved dozens of lives. He is now being hailed as a guardian angel in fur, and villagers are calling for him to receive a national bravery award.
