Thor swam against the current for nearly 50 yards, reached her just as she slipped under, and pulled her back to shore using his teeth to grip her jacket. First responders called it “a miracle in the middle of hell.”
But even as cheers erupted on the shoreline… tragedy struck again.
Moments later, a large tree, weakened by floodwater, collapsed onto a nearby boat carrying two rescue volunteers. Thor, still exhausted and bleeding from debris cuts, tried to pull one of them free before collapsing himself from sheer exhaustion.
The girl survived. One volunteer remains missing. Thor is now being treated by emergency veterinarians and is listed in serious but stable condition.
